Qué entendemos por neurodivergencia
What we mean by neurodivergence
Neurodivergent is the word used for people whose minds process attention, information, emotions or stimuli in a way that departs from what is considered typical. Under that umbrella people usually place ADHD, autism, dyslexia and, depending on the approach, also high abilities or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
It is a term of social and academic use, not a diagnosis: it does not replace a professional assessment, and having a trait does not mean having a disorder. Club Camaleón does not diagnose or treat. If you recognise yourself in what you read here, the next step is to talk to a qualified health professional.
TDAH, altas capacidades… o las dos
ADHD, giftedness… or both
Three profiles that are often confused, overlap or go unnoticed. What follows is information, not a test.
TDAH
ADHD
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder affects the regulation of attention, impulsivity and activity. It isn't a lack of intelligence or will: it's a different way of managing focus, which slips with the monotonous and can become intense with what interests you. It is diagnosed by health professionals.
Altas capacidades (AACC)
Giftedness (high abilities)
Intellectual or creative potential above average, assessed with professional tests. It's neither a disorder nor a prize: it can come with voracious curiosity, fast thinking, perfectionism, boredom or a sense of not fitting in with your peers.
Doble excepcionalidad
Twice-exceptionality
When giftedness and ADHD (or another condition) coexist, one can hide the other: ability compensates for distraction and nobody sees the ADHD, or distraction covers the ability and nobody sees the talent. That's why it deserves a careful assessment.
Potencial, sí. Varita mágica, no.
Potential, yes. Magic wand, no.
Many of these minds see sooner, connect further and imagine futures others can't yet see. That can lead to incredible things. But no ability works alone: you need preparation, consistency, people who open doors for you and luck that finds you in motion. That's the idea behind the A × S × (C + c) = E formula, and here we apply it without selling smoke.

How what you eat affects how you feel, and the mental mechanisms that sabotage any change in eating. It does not address any neurological condition: it is the body's link in a view that doesn't separate mind and body.

Altas capacidades y CI elevado
High abilities and high IQ
High abilities are assessed with standardised tests administered by professionals; an online quiz doesn't count. A high IQ doesn't measure all of intelligence nor guarantee well-being: some people learn easily and still live with boredom, perfectionism or a sense of not fitting in. It is the ground Sujeto 9 explores, through fiction.
Patrones, rituales y TOC
Patterns, rituals and OCD
Seeing patterns where others see noise is something often described in neurodivergent minds: it helps connect data and also to ruminate. It shouldn't be confused with OCD, which is a clinical diagnosis of obsessions and compulsions that cause distress, not a mere liking for order.
Lenguaje corporal y microgestos
Body language and micro-gestures
Paul Ekman spent decades studying the facial expressions of emotion and popularised the study of micro-expressions, fleeting gestures lasting a fraction of a second. But reading a face is not reading a mind: a gesture points to an emotion, not to its cause, and the ability to detect lies from micro-gestures is disputed in the research. In Sujeto 9, that almost supernatural reading is fiction.
Sensibilidad alta
High sensitivity
Some people notice lights, noises, textures or the mood of the person in front of them sooner and more intensely. It can be a gift and a drain at once. Understanding how your sensitivity works is the first step to managing it without being ashamed of it.
